Hailing from Toledo, Ohio, Ben is renowned for his post-bop jazz style, creating melodies in the moment with a unique, improvisational approach. His artistry has earned high praise from Grammy-nominated composer Tim Hagans, who describes Ben as a \u201cformidable and eclectic artistic personality\u201d with a \u201cglorious sound filled with emotion, mystery, and mastery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ben\u2019s early career was marked by his impressive performances as a finalist in the 1999 and 2000 International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competitions, where he began to define his distinctive voice. He is an alumnus of the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City and the University of Toledo, his hometown institution.<\/p>\n<p>Known for his heartfelt performances and spontaneous creations, Ben\u2019s recent work includes his contribution to Signal Quartet\u2019s recording,\u00a0<em>Approaching<\/em>, which features his composition &#8220;Ember.&#8221; This piece showcases his ability to blend dark, mysterious tones with adventurous chord changes.
